The Challenge
As Lartecono Davinci continued to grow, a gap became clear that its earlier operations documentation alone couldn't close: there was no structured way to actually train people into their roles. Everything staff and managers knew, they had learned informally, on the job, from whoever happened to be working alongside them.
That approach breaks down as a business scales. It meant no consistent skill level across staff doing the same job in different locations, no defined path for someone moving from team member to supervisor to manager, and no way to guarantee that a new hire in one store was being trained the same way as one in another. Documented SOPs tell people what the standard is; they don't teach people how to actually meet it. Lartecono Davinci needed the second piece: a real training academy.
Our Approach
Think Growth Consulting was engaged, in a separate and later phase of work with Lartecono Davinci, to design and launch a full training academy built around how people actually move through the organization, not a single generic onboarding course.
The academy was structured around two dimensions working together:
- 1
Role-based curriculum: with distinct training tracks for team members, supervisors, and managers, so each level built on the skills of the one before it rather than repeating the same generic content.
- 2
Classroom and on-site training combined: pairing structured classroom sessions covering concepts, standards, and management skills with hands-on training delivered directly in the shop, where staff and managers practiced the same skills in the real working environment they'd use them in every day.
- 3
Team-working skills: built into the curriculum alongside technical and procedural training, so the academy developed how people worked together, not just what tasks they could individually perform.
- 4
Supervisor and manager development: giving those roles dedicated training on the leadership and operational responsibilities that team-member training alone doesn't cover, creating a genuine internal path for people to grow into those positions.
Each track was designed to connect to the next, so a team member could see a real path forward, not just complete an isolated onboarding course and stop there.
The Solution
The result was a fully launched, running training academy that gave Lartecono Davinci a structured answer to "how do we actually train someone" at every level of the business:
A tiered training path: from team member through supervisor to manager, replacing informal, inconsistent on-the-job learning with a defined progression.
Training that transfers to the real environment: since on-site shop training reinforced classroom learning in the actual conditions staff work in, rather than leaving that translation to chance.
Stronger team dynamics: with team-working skills built directly into the curriculum rather than assumed to develop on their own.
A genuine leadership pipeline: with supervisors and managers trained specifically for their responsibilities rather than promoted with only frontline experience to draw on.
Consistency across locations: since every person moving through a given role now learns the same standards, the same way, regardless of which store they're in.
Why It Matters
Documenting how a business should run is only half the job of scaling it; the other half is training the people who have to run it that way, every day, at every level. By building a role-based academy that combines classroom learning with real shop-floor practice, this engagement gave Lartecono Davinci the training infrastructure to keep growing its team with the same consistency it built into its operations, rather than leaving skill development to informal chance.
Think Growth Consulting helps growing businesses build role-based training academies that combine classroom learning with real on-site practice, from team-level onboarding through to supervisor and manager development. Get in touch to talk about building yours.
